concrit, please?
i made a bunch of jewelry to sell, but so far, what i've added to my etsy shop is not really doing well.  i'm wondering if this is simply because sweets jewelry isn't as popular anymore (and general economic suckage) or if there's something i can do to improve my stuff.  so i am posting to ask for concrit on what i've made so far (most of which is not yet on etsy).

the photos i'm sharing are just quick shots, so apologies for any blurriness or whatever.  but hopefully they are clear enough for you to judge.  i have macarons, cookies, and a few of those tart shell things that everyone and their mother makes.  mostly rings, although i have some pendants that i would finish into necklaces.  most of the parts are purchased (i discovered that molding clay is my least favorite part of the process) and i'm using japanese deco whip (the non-toxic stuff) instead of caulk.

so, concrit, comments, suggestions appreciated, please :)

Honestly, your pieces looks great and I can't find a thing wrong with them. I do sweets jewelery too, and I found that a lot of people were fine with an impulse buy at a convention, but online there's little interest. I'm sure the economy is a factor.

Best of luck to you, and here's to hoping things pick up soon!

thanks :) if it's just stuff i can't control, like the economy, i'll deal. i do craft fairs with a friend, so i suppose i can try selling them there to see how they do. i wish i hadn't gone overboard buying supplies, but c'est la vie.

It's funny because even though I try to appeal to lolitas with my goods, a lot of non-lolitas are interested in and have purchased jewelery and goods from me for kids, grandkids, crazy friends, etc. They were all sales in persn. You should give the craft fair thing a shot! You might be surprised. X3

that's true, one of my coworkers, who totally makes fun of me when i talk about lolita stuff, was interested in buying some XD

Your jewelry looks nice, but selling on Etsy is hard because there's just so much competition. Don't get discouraged! Many people use myspace, twitter, facebook, and many other such sites to advertise. Also, listing at least one item everyday helps. If you don't list often, all the other listings push your items farther down in the search results.

that's a good idea -- i will try listing daily :)

Etsy sales have been very very slow lately. I think it's a combination of several factors: June is generally slow + the economy + lots of other jewelry makers on Etsy + hobbyists selling items for super cheap and not making a profit

thanks. i feel a lot better knowing this is all stuff that's not really in my control -- i'll be a lot more realistic with my expectations now :)
